We are Technical Difficulties, FIRST  Robotics Competition Team 1502, from Chelsea, Michigan. We’re a close-knit group of students, mentors, and enthusiasts who are brought together by a common interest in robotics, education, and investment in the future of ourselves and the community. Our main focus is participating in FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), which is an organization designed to help foster interest and accomplishment in STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.)

Saturday November 21st brought the first snow of the year, but that didn’t deter Technical Difficulties members from coming in to work on their preparations for the upcoming season. For Jeffrey, Jared, Kepler and others on the fabrication team, that meant experimenting with a new drive system. Last year, 1502’s robot utilized a mecanum drive, giving the bot great mobility but sacrificing traction. Without knowing yet what priorities the upcoming game might demand, the build team decided to add another tool their toolbox by building a “west coast drive”.
